2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Specification- Transmission
The all-new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer arrives with bold new styling, sporty driving dynamics and a clean, functional interior design. Mitsubishi offers the Lancer in three different trim levels: Basic DE, mid-range ES, and sporty GTS. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gives 152 horsepower powers all the three models. The engine drives the front wheels with the help of a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. GTS models with the CVT have Sportronic that allows the driver's to have full control over the transmission's behavior.
Like the Sentra, the Lancer's continuously variable transmission (CVT) is a smart choice that improves gas mileage and acceleration compared to a conventional automatic. The latest Sportronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is revolutionary equipment in the latest Lancer. One can use either the steering wheel mounted magnesium paddle shifters on the GTS trim for sequential manual shifts between six preset steps or one can just leave it the way it drives and experience the superb smooth driving feel. This efficiency and low maintenance cost can be offered by a CVT only. This type of transmission is simpler to use than an automatic transmission and that too without fixing the gears and no-shift shocking hesitation. CVT is the future of small compact cars. The EPA-estimated gas mileage is 21/29 mpg (city/highway) for the manual transmission and that for the CVT is 22/29 mpg (city/highway).
The Mitsubishi Lancer innovative automatic transmission will set a new trend in the market.
